First release & my submission for Godot Wild Jam 2018

This is the first release of Tiktaalik's Tale! Version 0.1 "Competition Submission"

Actually this game was originally made in Pygame for 'Ludumdare 24' which I attended and had the same theme, "Evolution". The result was not even a game and I've long abandoned it, source code being lost and all. I thought it fitting that I might show how much more of a game I can make in a similar span of time by revisiting the same exact concept for this Godot jam. I even gave myself permission to use the same game name again. This time it's the real deal! I ended up spending about the same amount of time, maybe 20 hours of programming, but the results were much more fruitful.

I spent most of the first day making sure it's what I wanted to do. Bojidar got started immediately by the second day making mockups and then began making sprites. The following 3 days I spent watching documentaries about the Devonian age and making sure the setting was in order.  It's how I was able to learn about dunkleosteus and how arachnids walked the earth in the same age. It is also why including the bird background sprites that Bojidar sent me was low priority. Unfortunately, there are no birds in the Devonian! They didn't exist yet. Then again, tiktaaliks don't jump this high either so I'm hardly being much more realistic. Either way, a game much more close to original vision than the first jam attempt came about because of this experiment.
